Clifton Fine Furniture has expanded its offer after it took out top prize in the Australian Grown Timbers category of the Furnitex 2009 Product Excellence Awards. The Tasmanian timber specialist, which received the award for its Wellington buffet, is to add new items including an audio cabinet and dining set to the Wellington range.
"We were planning to expand the range anyway, but winning the award has certainly hastened that decision," confirmed Clifton founder Eammon Regan.
Exposure at Furnitex had led to confirmed orders and business leads from interstate buyers, most notably from New South Wales, he added.
With its Furnitex win securing the company entry into the Australian Furniture of the Year Awards on October 17 in Perth, it was hoped further national exposure would continue to boost interest.
Clifton Fine Furniture's win came amid renewed interest in Australian made and sourced product at Furnitex 2009. Taking place from July 16 to 19 July at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, the fair reported the highest recorded local presence in seven years. Located in the heart of Furnitex, the Australian New Product Parade showcased leading brands and a broad range of new products from local manufacturers.
The value of the Australian dollar made locally made furniture very price competitive, a spokesperson for the event confirmed, while buying Australian-made product provided retailers and consumers with exceptional quality, and extended warranties.
