Furniture brand Nick Scali believes bumper sales in December 2009 could lift its net profit for the first half of fiscal 2009/10 by a third, thanks to accelerated deliveries during the last month of 2009.
Chief financial officer and company secretary David Clarke confirmed in a statement to the stock exchange that unaudited sales revenue for the half year to 31 December 2009 was $49 million.
Based on this higher revenue it was expected that net profit after tax for the six months would be "materially higher" than the previous guidance - which was "in the region of $4.5 million" - he said.
"Whilst not yet finalised, the directors believe that the company's after tax profit for the six months is likely to be around $6 million."
The company's half year results are expected to be announced on 19 February 2010.
