A new player in the sustainable homewares and living accessories category has tapped into growing demand for furnishings combining contemporary design and ethical production.
Sala Verde Design will showcase its collection of lighting, cushions, bowls and home accessories for the first time at Decoration + Design (D+D) Sydney from 3 - 5 February.
Sala Verde's Nikki Lisle said she hoped to use exposure at the trade fair to raise the company's profile among interior designers and retailers.
"All the items we have imported will be seen for the first time in Australia - many are exclusive to Sala Verde," she confirmed.
Sala Verde, which translates to "Green Room" specialises in hand made products created by skilled artisans. The range is typified by modern designs executed using age-old native craftsmanship.
"Many of the products are made using natural plant materials and organic dyes, resulting in each item being unique in character."
The company's strong ethical bias had led it to source products that would help support communities and keep ethnic customs alive, Lisle said.
