Joyce Foam, which produces flexible polyurethane foam for the furniture, bedding and other specialist industries, is set to invest $10 million of NSW Government funding to expand its Moorebank (Western Sydney) base into a national manufacturing headquarters.
The company, which sponsored a special cocktail party at the recent Australian International Furniture Fair in Sydney to announce the move, received the $10 million from Industry & Investment NSW. Speaking at the event, Joyce CEO Frank Van Gogh said the investment would include a new state-of-the-art foam machine and automated conversion equipment
"We believe this investment will revolutionise the foam industry in Australia. From an environmental perspective, we will be producing foams without any emissions. From a market perspective, we will have the broadest product range available, producing grades which are not available today."
The innovative foam manufacturing process known as "controlled pressure polymerisation" was developed in Europe to eliminate emissions and improve foaming quality and product range. The new process will be a first for the Australian foam market, giving Joyce Foam global best practice status in foam manufacturing.
Currently operating four foam manufacturing plants in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide, as well as a sales and conversion facility in Melbourne, Joyce Foam has decided to consolidate manufacturing to a single site at Moorebank, supporting 69 jobs. It is understood the company will maintain sales and conversion operations in all states going forward.
Joyce Foam is also consulting with the NSW Government-supported Industry Capability Network (ICN) to identify local companies to contribute to its manufacturing supply chain in future.
The Australian International Furniture Fair took place at Sydney Exhibition Centre from 3-5 February.
