Monsoon to extend market share

Monsoon Imports will be showcasing an enhanced range of outdoor and indoor furniture at the forthcoming Australian International Furniture Fair (AIFF) next February, following its acquisition of Bertwistle Imports in March.

Monsoon Imports will be showcasing an enhanced range of outdoor and indoor furniture at the forthcoming Australian International Furniture Fair (AIFF) next February, following its acquisition of Bertwistle Imports in March.

With Bertwistle Imports in business for over 40 years, Monsoon co-owners Kym and Keith Hopkins' aims were to continue the Bertwhistle ethos of excellent customer service and product ranges while also updating the company's offer, confirmed Keith Hopkins.

"We renamed the business Monsoon Imports to give it a fresh start, new style and attitude. We hope to achieve long term relationships with customers and are working hard to source pieces that are not only different and inspiring but are of a high quality and still affordable."

The company had launched restyled website and catalogue highlighting its existing outdoor furniture range, as well as soon to be released indoor range, homewares and canvas paintings, he added. "The paintings are also available to be customised with whatever features or colours clients require."

Monsoon had also acquired the exclusive distribution rights to Indonesian furniture brand Cempaka. With a philosophy blending contemporary style with an inspirational twist, Cempaka furniture and accessories were inspired by contemporary forms, but pay homage to the rich heritage of artists and craftsmen in Indonesia.

"So far we have had a lot of interest from interior designers and resorts regarding these new pieces," Hopkins said.

Meanwhile the Avanti outdoor furniture range, a legacy from the Bertwhistle business, also remained a signature range in Monsoon's product portfolio. Monsoon still held exclusive distributorship rights for Avanti in Australia, but had also reduced the brand's price points to be more competitive, Hopkins confirmed.

"We can't wait to show everyone our products at the fair in Sydney in February 2011," Hopkins said. "It will be our first furniture trade show since owning the business and we believe it will be the best way to let everyone know who we are and what we have to offer."

Monsoon Imports will showcase its ranges at the Australian International Furniture Fair from 2 - 4 February 2011 at Sydney Exhibition Centre.
